NIGHTRAGE have completed work on 15 songs during the pre-production phase for their as-yet-untitled fifth album, which the band plans to start recording in June. Commented guitarist/mainman Marios Iliopoulos:
"This time we have chosen a different approach in the recording process. All drums, bass, and guitars will be recorded at Zero Gravity Studios in Athens, Greece. Some of you might remember, this location was the set for our latest video 'Wearing A Martyr's Crown'. On this record we want to break up the monotony of the typical Scandinavian weather/scenery and head to one of the most beautiful countries this band has ever played. So once again, Greece is our destination!"
NIGHTRAGE's new album will be released via Lifeforce Records in Europe and North America. Floga Records from Greece will make the effort available on limited-edition vinyl.

RAVENCULT has inked a deal with Hell's Headbangers Records for the release of the "Morbid Blood" album. CD version will be out late March 2011 while the LP version will follow in May. News from ZEMIAL:
"Realising that a delay was forthcoming for the completion of NYKTA, I suggested to Hells Headbangers that we release a 7” single in the meantime. It is symbolically titled: DUSK.
I chose two pieces: the pre-production version of “In the Arms of Hades” (which will feature certain new parts recorded for the album) and “Cries Behind the Golden Walls”. This last piece was composed in 1991, just as things were taking the direction that Zemial would follow in the coming years. It is in fact the companion to “Words from The Temple of Shadows” as they were the two new pieces that we were practising back then and the two new pieces that caused the dissolution of that 2-year line-up and turned Zemial into a one man project.
Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback; I am glad that this music is still reaching deep. A word of warning to the collectors out there: this edition will be strictly limited.
I know that there has been no update regarding NYKTA and this is as good as any time to shed some light into why. The craziness of the last half year has not allowed me to properly concentrate on finishing NYKTA. Aside from (other) music and teaching commitments, in October 2010 I began the long process of relocating my entire studio. Aside from the arduous process of sorting through the cable salad and moving all the equipment, we have had to completely renovate the new studio room and start from “scratch”. It has taken very long but we are almost done. With all installations complete and the studio up and running I will entirely focus on completing NYKTA and moving on to some other music for Zemial. This I can guarantee.
In the meantime, many thanks to all of you for being patient and I do hope that “DUSK” will at least partially satiate your thirst for new Zemial music. Good things take time.

"SEPTICFLESH just finished recording the successor
of 2008's "Communion". After a long period of intense work in Athens,
Prague and Sweden, the evolution of the band's Symphonic Death sound has been
achieved with the help of the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague and well known
artist / producer Peter Tägtgren.
130 musicians were involved in the recording process. Besides the traditional
classic orchestra instruments, this time SEPTICFLESH incorporated harpsichord,
some bizarre ethnic instruments and a boy soprano to their sound, pursuing a
more "horror soundtrack" approach. Of course, the guitars will still
shred you to death!
The release of the forthcoming 10-song album is expected for the first quarter
of 2011. In the meantime, a brand new song will be available worldwide as an
exclusive digital download single from this December 17th on."

TRANSCENDING BIZARRE? have finished the recordings for the new album and it is now entering the mixing stage with Dim Douvras (Rotting Christ, Rex Mundi etc) as the main producer. The official release is scheduled for OCTOBER 2010. Derz.oth Design and ANESTIS GOUDAS (Shagrath, Simen Hestnaes etc) will take care of the artwork that is primarily based on the dark and eccentric art of Mr JESSE PEPER (www.jessepeper.com).
The band believes that this album is the darkest and most complete creation so far. SEPTICFLESH NEW ALBUM UPDATE
"The creation of the 10 songs that will appear on the next album
of Greek daemons Septicflesh, is approaching the final stage. The musical result
can be described as a great mass of emotional death.
One of the dominant elements of the album is the use of the characteristic guitar
melodies of the band in a more intense and dramatic way. In combination with
the orchestral parts that will surpass everything else that the band has done
in the past, the sound resembles to a funeral concerto. Actually, it appears
that the whole atmosphere of the album is one step closer to the depths of Hades…
Also, as actually Septicflesh is in the wider sense an artistic dark experiment,
the nightmarish visual world of Seth Siro Anton that is part of this experiment
is going to be expanded towards extremity in order to “dress” fittingly
the soundscapes and the new mysterious lyrical thematology.

band) and in Prague (again with the help of the Filmharmonic Orchestra and Choir
of Prague under the direction of Christos Antoniou) from August until the mid
of September 2010. The mix will take place in Sweden on October 2010. The band
is looking forward to work for the first time with well known producer Peter

Now Hells Headbangers were Zemial’s very first distribution partner in the USA when I decided to release In Monumentum via NYX and have remained one of our closest and most valued associates over the past 4 years. Having secured a major distribution deal with RED handling Canada and the USA and PHD/Code7 handling international distribution, Hells Headbangers will ensure that the music of Zemial will finally become widely available to friends and fans across the globe – an important step for us after years of very limited distribution.
In the meantime, the recording of NYKTA continues. What I have uploaded is only a rough version of the final product. However I am very glad to see everybody’s appreciation of the new material and sound I thank all of you who wrote with positive commentary. Being the musician, sound-engineer and producer at the same time is a challenging task and your opinions and feedback give me that much needed objectivity. I anticipate having completed NYKTA by September. When it is done, it will fully represent the vision I have in mind and something to be remembered as progressive and musical. No compromise!

S.A. Akis, synth player, drummer and producer of TRANSCENDING BIZARRE? passed away on Friday June 18 2010 due to a congenital heart disease. The band expresses grief and lament for this tragedy:
"Akis was a man of exceptional thoughts and creativity and we will always remember him as such. We have to thank all the people who already expressed their sympathy and condolences about his death. AENAON will release a 7" split EP with SATANOCHIO, called A Parallel Zoetrope. This split will be released in 500 copies worldwide from Floga Records and Orkestral Promenade Productions. The Aenaon song will be called I, Tyrant. The Satanochio side is coming with the song Crimson Grim. Both songs are placed in the avantgarde and experimental dimensions of black metal. The artwork of this release is done from Costin Chioreanu (www.myspace.com/twilight13media), an artist well known from works with bands like Decrepit Spectre, Ulver, Aura Noir, Grave etc.

FIREWIND are checking in at last again with good news regarding current activity as well as first details about their upcoming new studio album, which was completed throughout the last months and which will be ready to be launched worldwide via Century Media Records in the Fall of 2010.
FIREWIND mastermind and current OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Gus G. checks in as follows:
“I know it's been a few silent months, but this time we decided to be pretty quiet about the recording process of our new album. Anyways, before we go into revealing more info, we recently did a very fun project which was to be a part of Metal Hammer UK's Tribute CD to Judas Priest! We actually recorded everything for that cover song in our home studios and then passed over the files to Fredrik Nordström / Studio Fredman in Sweden for the mix. This also marks our first recording with our new drummer, Michael Ehre and the end result is killer (in our humble opinion), as we got to cover one of Metal's most classic songs: “Breaking The Law”!
As for our new album, it's scheduled for a release sometime this Fall and the name of it is “Days Of Defiance". We'll soon check back and reveal more info, song names, etc.”

MYSTIC PROPHECY mainman/producer R.D. Liapakis has joined forces with STRATOVARIUS drummer Jörg Michael in a brand new side project called DEVIL'S TRAIN. Having spent a month together on the road earlier this year as part of the "Polaris" tour, Liapakis and Michael decided to explore their common love of '80s hard rock/heavy metal by putting together an "old-school heavy/hard rock" band.
DEVIL'S TRAIN is a project Liapakis has been working on with Greek guitarist Lakis Ragazas for the past year and as soon as Michael heard it, he asked to become part of it as the group's drummer. DEVIL'S TRAIN's as-yet-untitled debut album will be recorded at Prophecy and Music Factory studios and the production will be handled by Liapakis and Christian Schmid. A tentative late summer/early fall release is expected.

The Astron refers to the bearer of light, the sun, life itself and phos that allows no secret to remain hidden for ever, the hope, the hunter, the ray slashing the monotony of nothing, the effort to breathe to cry to understand to communicate and ultimately to create, the god, the gods, the man!
The Black refers to the endless, the eternal warm nest either within us or far above, the mystery, the epitome of arcane that asks to be conquered and the challenge that cannot be regretted, the deep, the soul attractor and fears the force’s being made of, the vessel of creation, the goddess, the womb, the woman!
Astron Black is a fiction persona in human like body shape. Nightfall recordings update:
Preproduction is ready to roll. The album will have 12 tracks unfold in 45 minutes approximately. Composed of epic melodies backed by heavy powerful drumming the way it was before trigger mania arrived in the neighbourhood will certainly be a pleasure trip in time for anyone into metal. Jorg as a studio owner himself (Soundlodge studios, Germany – God Dethroned, Dew-Scented), knows exactly what he is doing, resulting in super efficient drum takes. This makes the process much easier on everyone else, since no stress is accumulated during this initial phase of recording!
Jörg flew down to Greece to track his parts and do the rehearsals at a studio in Athens. Prior to that a series of guidelines, ideas, and comments had been bouncing back and forth between him and Efthimis for quite some time, so things were pretty honed and he knew exactly where we would want everything! It was really just a matter of Jörg hammering the parts out, since he was already familiar with them. The drums for "Depressive Icons" were recorded at Woodshed Studios in Germany by Seraph (DARK FORTRESS, NONEUCHILD) and producer Victor Bullock (DARK FORTRESS, CELTIC FROST). All artwork for the effort was handled by Travis Smith, who has previously worked with NEVERMORE, KATATONIA, OPETH and AMORPHIS, among others.
"Depressive Icons" includes guest appearances by Efthimis Karadimas (NIGHTFALL) and Jakob Batten (ILLDISPOSED). The keyboard duties were handled by Q_Snc (UNHOLY RITUAL, SAVAOTH, OBSCECRATION) while the bass was recorded by Stergios Kanaropoulos (MORTAL TORMENT, THE ALMIGHTY FISHERMAN, LYTROSIS).
In other news, DAYLIGHT MISERY has announced the addition of drummer Yiannis Filippaios from the highly respected doom/death metal band DECEMBERANCE to the group's ranks.

ROTTING CHRIST announce a very tight 2010 season. Their brand new album entitled "Aealo" is set to be released in February (Season Of Mist). The band is gearing up to hit the road again and promote the new devilish baby with as many shows as possible. On April 15 the band kicks off a Polish tour consisted of 10 shows. On April 29 ROTTING CHRIST starts off a regular European tour as a direct support of... Sorry, at the moment we can't tell you anything more about the headlining act. The tour will last till May 16. ROTTING CHRIST will also appear on several summer festivals (band's appearances on Gottik Treffen and Metal Camp have been already confirmed, more to come...). On May 24 the band kicks off two weeks tour through Russia, the Ukraine and Belorus. Another regular tournee covering Europe, Scandinavia, the Balkans and the UK is scheduled for autumn.

Zemial announce, that the band will not perform live anymore, due to lack of "musicians above the “norm” standard found in metal, who are technically able and willing to push the borders of this music style." According to Vorskaath, "musicians in this music scene no longer seem to develop an individual style or even a basic ability to play their instrument. Instead, they spend that precious time cultivating their image, which will successfully cover any discrepancies arising from their musical ineptness."
Zemial's new album NYKTA is still heavily under consideration. Beyond that album, Vorskaath will either breathe life into this music style with something new and oppose the ‘standards’ or put Zemial to rest. His focus will be on his other music projects and he plans to bring Alpha Centauri back to life and activity. If Zemial remain is something to be seen.
The entire back-catalogue of Zemial will be re-released in high quality and at reasonable prices. Vorskaath also operates his own project-studio facility, named “Studio 9”.

Rumors say that Gus G. (FIREWIND) has been tapped to play with OZZY OSBOURNE at the upcoming BlizzCon convention in Anaheim, California. It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been corroborated by anyone in the Osbourne camp and should be treated as a rumor only.
Ozzy told Classic Rock magazine in a June 2009 interview that he was on the lookout for a new guitar player, apparently to replace Zakk Wylde. He also indicated that he was auditioning a guitarist from Greece, but declined to give further details.

"We regretfully announce that our bass player Sotiris decided to leave the band due to personal reasons. It was a tough decision and he struggled for months before making it, but in the end he just believed it to be the best choice.
Sotiris joined the band in 2006 and was the band's bass player for many important concerts and all European tours up to now. He also was part of the line-up for the band's debut album, "Eternal Domination", and can be seen performing on stage in Suicidal Angels' upcoming DVD, "Live Domination", and various videos uploaded on youtube. Together with the rest of the band, he tried hard to promote Suicidal Angels' music and helped make the group a better live act.
Suicidal Angels would like to thank Sotiris for his contribution in the two years he was the band's bass player. We respect his decision and wish him the best for his personal as well as professional life.
Suicidal Angels will go on as scheduled, regarding the recording of their second album in Spring 2009. More news on that will be posted very soon. Regarding live appearances, you have probably gathered that the bass player position is now open. It is possible, however not 100% sure, that Sotiris will play the gig with Dew-scented in February. We have already considered some candidates for the job he leaves behind and we'll have more on this in the next few days."

CRYSTAL TEARS spent time at Music Factory studio in Kempten, Germany between May 12 and May 21 recording their new album with producer R.D. Liapakis (FIREWIND, CHASTAIN, ELDRITCH). Acclaimed singer Ian Parry (ELEGY, CONSORTIUM) wrote the lyrics and vocal melody lines for the CD and completed the vocal recordings at his own studio in the Netherlands. The album will now be mixed and mastered at Germany's Music Factory studio with Liapakis and engineer C. Schmid.
Parry recently paid a visit to Thessaloniki, Greece to meet CRYSTAL TEARS. During this seven-day trip, the guys did two different photo sessions, shot their debut video clip, rehearsed, recorded some backing vocals "and partied their nuts off!"
Formed in 1997, CRYSTAL TEARS released its debut album, Choirs Of Immortal, in October 2006 via Pure Steel Records.

KARMIC LINK Signs With THUNDERING RECORDS
KARMIC LINK is the bastard child of Stathis Kassios (ex-keyboard player of Sweden's SYSTEM SHOCK and Greece's NIGHTFALL) who recruited the female entity Mina G. (ex-KINETIC, THE RAIN I BLEED), a charismatic mezzo-soprano, who paradoxically fitted this crazy ship of karmic ideas.
KARMIC LINK's debut album, "No Light but Rather Darkness Visible", was mixed and mastered at the Tico-Tico studios (SENTENCED, IMPALED NAZARENE, SONATA ARCTICA, etc.) in Finland and will be released later in the year. RAVENCULT cancel their appearance at the Festung Open Air and fire drummer
Statement:
We sadly announce that we are forced to cancel our appearance at the Festung Open Air, Germany on Saturday 10/5/2008. This is probably the first time in our 7 year presence in the scene that we have to cancel a so long scheduled gig. The reason is no other than our (ex-) drummer's refusal to join for the gig the last minute although all necessary preparations were made, calling a couple of hours before our flight to say "he has fever and no motive to come along". He is now out of the band anyway while his replacement will be announced shortly. Our sincere apologies to United Metal Maniacs & FOA crew and those interested in watching RAVENCULT perform at Bitterfeld.

Followers of the dreamlord rejoice. The time is approaching for "Communion". The Greek demons SEPTICFLESH (now in one word) are back with a new album on Season of Mist, containing 9 gates to unearthly dreams and nightmares. The "rituals" of "Communion" took place in the famous Studio Fredman in Sweden. The massive heavy guitar sound of the album is supported by a haunting triumphant orchestration that surpasses every past attempt of the band on that field. The classical arrangements are composed and directed by Chris Antoniou (guitarist) and performed by the 80 part full orchestra and 32 part choir of philharmonic orchestra of Prague. As a result the music besides being brutal is also very "visual", like the soundtrack of an occult movie projected straight to your mind. Concerning the vocals, Seth is growling as a hellish beast in contrast with the melodic, yet intense and emotive vocals of Sotiris V. This album is definitely the more dark, brutal and at the same time avant-garde release of the band to date, crossing the borders of Death and Black metal. Yes, this album is not recommended to people resonating with holy ideals and bright emotions.
On March 17th, 2008 and March 25th, 2008 in the US the gates will open for the public and you will have the chance to join "Communion" and experience the emotions that come from songs like "Lovecraft's Death", "Anubis", "Babel's Gate", "Persepolis".

According to a press release, "this filthy black metal creature was spawned in 2001 and had since released several demos and a promotional CD with their blend of fast attack and uncompromising black metal." Previously signed to Australia's Asphyxiate Recordings for a full-length album, the group is expected to release a new effort sometime next year.
